Continuing Classes & Workshops

NEEDLECRAFT

quilting101 Quilting Studio

This is an ongoing class and may be joined at any time. All levels, from beginning to advanced are welcome. This is the time to do your own work, get expert advice on a special project and meet with other local quilters. Come join the fun.

Class meets Fridays, 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. -- $28 per year for VAA members. $43 per year for non VAA members. Only $5.00 per term thereafter.

HARDANGER ARTS

hardanger(102) Hardanger Studio

Hardanger embroidery is a delicate form of openwork which originated in the Hardanger region of Norway hundreds of years ago. This is an ongoing class and may be joined at anytime. All levels from beginning to advanced are welcome. Each person works on their own project. Also will help with knitting, crocheting, other embroidery.

Class meets Thursday, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. -- cost is $28 for VAA members first term; $43 for non-members (includes one year membership) Only $5 per term thereafter.

Silk Painting

Workshops Students will enjoy watching the paint flow across the silk and learn the techniques used for creating extraordinary textures that can only be done with the silk medium. Students can use their own drawings but patterns will also be supplied so that everyone can enjoy creating decorative and useable art. Products are supplied plus a piece of silk for your project for each class.

Price for each class, $15 members, $30 non-members. Every Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Ongoing. Instructor: Jan Su Cell: 760-549-3863.

WATERCOLOR

paints(110) Watercolor Workshop with Jan Su
Open to all levels to learn watercolor techniques. Learn art basics such as color mixing and drawing skills as you learn about preparing your paper for watercolor, brush handling, and a wide range of techniques.

FOREST GROVE CAMERA CLUB

cameraThe Forest Grove Camera Club is a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs. They meet on the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Wednesdays at 7:30. The club participated in a variety of competitions, evaluations and provides programs as well as field trips. Annual dues are $25 for full membership, which may include family members.  Student dues are $5 for a full membership. Associate memberships are $10 which includes all publications and meetings, but does not include competition or voting.

Description: 365 things to make and do plus over 400 Art ideas using the Usbourne art activity books. Explore crafts, drawing, painting and other activities while learning the basics of art. Open to all levels. Students will have the freedom to choose projects and be creative with their own ideas.

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain: (A421)

Description: Learn how do draw anything you see by utilizing the right side of your brain. See huge differences in your drawing abilities. This class proves that everyone can draw by following the book and workshop developed by Dr. Betty Edwards.

Acrylic Painting (A111)

Description: Learn to paint with Acrylic! This class covers the basics from brush selection to paint mixing. We start with paintings on paper until we get the hang of it, then move onto canvas. A must have class for those who want to start painting right away.

Description: Come and join us for fun in the clay arts. You can sign up for as many Wednesday sessions as you’d like. Be sure to pre-register at the front desk to reserve your spot! Space is limited, but our imaginations aren’t! I will have projects like planters, garden stones and decorative stakes, picture frames, bird feeders, and more.

Description: Learn to handbuild with coils, slabs, and extruded clay. Throwing on a pottery wheel isn’t the only way to create clay art. I will have projects to follow and demonstrate them in class. Clay is $13.00 per bag; tool kits are $13.50 each
Description: Our beginning students will learn to center and throw pottery, while intermediate students will learn advanced techniques (lidded jars, vases and tea pots). A class demonstration will be given most evenings. Class size is limited to 8 students, so please sign up in advance to reserve your spot!
